About the Artwork
Fighting or working with the wind is the essence of the wind surfing sport. The surfer needs great skill to understand the wind and take advantage of the force that makes the speed. The surfer holding the sail give great tension to the image and the joyful colors of the sail and the turquoise water has magic refreshing impact.
About the Artist
David Gerstein is a leading Israeli pop artist who engages in a wide range of genres such as two-dimensional work, three-dimensional sculpture, and painting. He was born in the 1950s in a time when students rarely had an opportunity to study art. Despite his prodigious talent as a child, his parents were against his decision to study the subject and he continued to thirst for art. In his early 20s, Gerstein studied art in Paris, New York, and London, thereby appeasing his desire to create works. He continues to learn as if repeating an exercise and waits for inspiration to come to him. He produces works of art during the working hours he sets for himself.
